life is better with a crush
February swoons
ok first things first, life is just so much better when you have a crush. i’m not just talking about a romantic crush, although that’s undoubtedly good too. i’m talking about anything that makes your heart flutter and makes the mundane more fun—a new project, a new connection, an upcoming event, a friend’s birthday (yes, I understand not all birthday’s are catered by NOBU), heck a good book or podcast, and honestly my new coffee machine or my new Adirondack chairs I now get to enjoy coffee from said machine in! a crush to me is defined by the simple accent aigu in life. that little or big something that satiates you in that very specific way. swoon-worthy. if you can’t seem to find one, having a crush on yourself is a great place to start.
I love February and she was good to me. here are some swoon worthy line-items.
01 this is old news but maru is the best coffee in la, I’m not even a sweets girl, but I dream of the cream top, I blush just thinking about it. when I can muster up the energy to stand in line, I do and it’s well worth it. and now I order the beans for said machine.
02 I am so obsessed with the Super Bowl. and that’s just the end of that. the super bowl is the winter version of the Fourth of July, if you allow it to be. it’s honestly one of my favourite holidays. maybe I’ve dated too many Europeans, or maybe it’s the forgotten sorority girl in me, but honestly I have such me an appreciation for things that are SO unapologetically and borderline, grossly, American. streets smell like burgers and hot dogs and everyone drinks beer. HITACHINO WHITE ALE is my choice and honestly qualifies as a household staple.

03 TELEPATHY TAPES.
if you haven’t heard of or dug into the Telepathy Tapes journey…let me tell you.. it is a journey worth embarking on. it turns our materialist paradigm inside out and explores the fundamental nature of consciousness. plus it has me deep in bed with Rupert Sheldrake now, who so eloquently explains in episode 5—

I honestly felt so vindicated in listening to this… I couldn’t figure out why until my dear spiritual running buddy synthesised “it vindicates everything we’ve been studying for the last 10 years: collective consciousness, synchronicity, interconnectedness, thoughts becoming things, and consciousness being at the center vs physicality.”

05 FLORE FLORE. max tee white long sleeve. so unfortunate I left this guy in Ojai a few weekends ago. 16 GIANT LOSADA OLIVES. a friend and I first discovered these in our tinis at Frenchette, they almost have a cheesy aftertaste, it’s exquisite. this giant jar has just been a chic bar accessory as I had to toss two for forgetting to refrigerate after opening so I would say the big boy for decor an the small for reality .

18 I had a little gallery hopping day on Saturday. I started at Bode so I could absorb Green River Projects aesthetic by proxy and ended up walking myself to a slew of galleries all the way at CHI SPACCA. I landed at a few fantastic furniture stores, but most importantly I stumbled into MEG TURNER'S GALLERY where she’s curated ice buckets from CHEF MASA and these insane HAND-ETCHED CUPS from the Czech Republic.
